Andy is a General Partner of Thomas Weisel Venture Partners. He co-founded TWVP in 2000 and focuses on investments in communications, storage and wireless companies. Andy has 15 years of experience advising and investing in technology companies, working extensively with infrastructure and service companies in the communications, software and Internet sectors. Andy has led the firm's investments in Application Security, AutoCell Laboratories, Bay Microsystems, Control4 Technologies, Santur Corporation, Siliquent Technologies (acquired by Broadcom) and W5 Networks.
Prior to founding TWVP, Andy was a Partner focused on building the venture capital activity and technology investment banking practice at Thomas Weisel Partners in San Francisco, which he joined in 1999. Prior to TWP, he was a Senior Managing Director of Private Equity at NationsBanc Montgomery Securities. Before NationsBanc, Andy was a General Partner with Technology Crossover Ventures in Palo Alto, California. While at TCV, he led investments in Metapath Software, Mpath Interactive (HearMe), One Touch Systems and Real Networks. Andy began his investment banking career at Goldman Sachs & Co.
Andy holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an AB from Stanford University. He sits on the governing board of Thomas Weisel Capital Management LLC, a holding company that oversees all of Thomas Weisel Partners' interests in the private equity area. Additionally, Andy is a member of the investment committees of Thomas Weisel Global Growth Partners (TWGGP), a fund of funds focused on venture capital and other private equity funds, and Thomas Weisel Healthcare Venture Partners (TWHVP). When he's not working, Andy enjoys spending time with his family, riding his bike and snow skiing.
